Happy New Year, everyone. I have been quiet on the blog for a bit, mostly because I have had my head down in a manuscript, so I thoughtI would start the year the honest way and tell you what is actually on my desk.
Auras & Embers Book 3
This is the big one. If you have read Gideon Bean and Spirit Marked, you know that our reluctant auramancer has been drifting along the edges of the magical world, learning what his second sight can do while trying very hard not to get killed. Book 3 stops the drifting. Gideon gets pulled into a case that is bigger and uglier than anything he has faced before, and it takes him somewhere new.
I will save the details for later in the year, but I will say this much: I have moved him out of Millhaven and into one of my favorite cities in the South. There are live oaks, there is Spanish moss, and there is a very old brick building that most tourists walk right past without knowing what is behind it.
Dacey is back, and she gets more to do this time. So does her fire.
The rough draft is done and I am deep in revisions, which is the part of writing where I read the whole thing again and argue with myself about every chapter. I am aiming for a fall release. More on that as soon as I have a date I trust.
Witches of Kirra Cross
Asphalt Coven is still doing well, and I am excited about the feedback I’ve been receiving. It is a different flavor from Auras & Embers, a little grittier and a lot more coven politics. I plan to get the second book out sometime before the end of the year. But you know what they say about the best laid plans…
Translations
The Sophie Feegle series and several of my other titles are out in German, French, Spanish, and Italian, and there are more editions in the pipeline this year. Auras & Embers will be joining them, and I will have news about the German and French editions once Book 3 is out in English.
The rest of the year
I am also planning a trip abroad this year, which I will write about here once I am back, because I never travel without a notebook and something always ends up in a book eventually.
That is the plan. Plans change, of course, but this is a good starting line. Thank you for reading, and for being patient with me while I was quiet. It is going to be a good year.
