Minotaur

Minotaurs are ancient supernatural beings of enormous physical strength and deeply held loyalty. Remembered mostly as a monster in a labyrinth, minotaurs are very much alive in the modern world, and they are nothing like the legend. Their magic is hot, dense, and animal, the smell of turned soil and dry hay, and it carries a low bass note that other beings feel in the breastbone before they hear it. Under a human glamour, the horns and the broad muzzle are only a suggestion. Without it, a minotaur stands eight feet tall with steam curling from its nostrils.

Though they've adapted to city life, minotaurs are creatures of duty and territory. They gravitate toward work that lets them guard something: a door, a road, a building, a person. They are proud of the places they protect and courteous almost to a fault, and they take an insult to their charge far more personally than an insult to themselves. A minotaur will hold a car door for you every morning for years. It is worth remembering what he could do with that door if he had to.
